Volunteers

We sometimes offer free or reduced price accommodation in return for help with various projects and everyday tasks. For example:

Reducing the brambles, digging mulched ground, tree planting, weeding, cooking, cleaning, decorating. harvesting reeds, logging and stacking firewood. Anyone with building skills is particularly welcome. 

We are a host for the Working Weekends on Organic Farms schemes. If you are not a WWOOF member feel free to contact us direct.

We have lots of lime pointing of granite walls to do during spring and early summer. We have finished a couple of granite walls and can teach volunteers the basic skills required.

For the adventurous volunteer one of the lakes is rapidly being taken over by reeds, which will harvested and put to good use.

Future projects that we are considering include.

• Compost toilets - to return nutrients to the land.
• Rainwater collection and storage systems, and irrigation.
• Reducing our use of electricity.
• Using alternative energy sources, e.g. willow coppice, passive solar, and hydroelectric.
